A hat for all time
I have purchased this hat a number of times. I have two that are the white Solumbra fabric, two black canvas versions, one black Solumbra fabric version, and the natural canvas one with black accents. These are simply my all time favorite summer hats. The brim is wide enough to provide serious face + neck protection. My preferred versions are the canvas as they are a little stiffer + hold the shape better. I use them for back + forth to work, as well as for long walks outside in the summer + for traipsing around street fairs + other outdoor events. There are other SPF clothing brands, but Solumbra is my favorite. I find the clothing + hats they offer to be fairly timeless in design. I wear Solumbra clothes to work nearly every day in the summer. Because UVA comes right through windows, including your car windows. I wear SPF every day on my face, neck + backs of my hands, but I would much rather pull on SPF tops + pants to save myself from applying SPF everywhere. I wear the hats to assist my SPF + to help it last longer. Even on 90+ degree days, I prefer a good long sleeve button up Solumbra shirt + that black canvas hat.

Everything I had hoped for
I was never a "hat person" until recently when I had to begin being extra careful about sun exposure related to a health problem. This hat makes it easy to love hats! It is comfortable, versatile, stylish and very effective for shade. I heartily recommend it!

Had no intention of spending $80 for a sun hat ($69.00 plus shipping) but having a 23" + head left me with not many options if I wanted the hat I wanted (which is exactly this hat style). I ordered summer sage, which is a beautiful color. The hat fits perfectly, it is extremely flattering, and really does shade you. When I first tried it on it was tight and I thought "What does it take to get a hat that fits!" but I realized the interior drawstring was pulled to the max. I loosened it a bit and the hat was perfect - loosen even more and it would even be big. So plenty of room for my head in this. It's a timeless style, versatile, can hike with it or wear with a summer dress, so I expect to keep it the rest of my life, amortizing the cost along the way. Highly recommend and worth the $$.

Great hat but fabric faded quickly
I love this style and got this hat for a month long trip to Madagascar where I wore it all day every day in the hot tropical sun. The hat performed well and fabric felt comfortable even in hot sweaty conditions. Chin strap was useful on boats etc and easily tucked away when not needed. However the fabric in the crown of the hat has faded substantially after only a month's use and is noticeably different from the underside of the brim. It has only been washed once also. I am a bit disappointed in this lack of longevity for an expensive item.

Although I desperately require lots of sun protection, I have always tended to feel a bit self conscious about wearing a hat, sorry to say. This rolled brim hat - in particular the natural with black trim - is so flattering that I have finally overcome my self consciousness! What a confidence builder for the timid among us~ the hat looks so sharp and stylish. I like how the contrasting trim gives it a smart and polished look, while the natural color brings a flattering light to the face. I feel great that not only have I found a very flattering hat, I am also protecting my skin from those destructive sun rays. I am so thankful to have found a trustworthy company with (literally) life saving products...that also look awesome.

Cute hat
Have this hat in a kicky red for a change of pace. So easy to pack. Fit is slightly small. Brim can be folded into many shapes for a flattering look.

Great Hat!
I have had a couple of styles of Solumbra hats that I bought years ago in a store near me. This is my favorite style and I have washed it in the washing machine many times. It's now looking a little grungy, so I'm going to get a new one for my up-coming cruise around South America.

How to Measure

Most Solumbra clothing is oversized.
It is designed with generous proportions to give you freedom to move around. There's no need to order larger sizes. Exceptions are noted in product copy.
Inseam:
Measurement from inside crotch seam to bottom of hem.
Unisex Tall Sizing:
Unisex tall shirts are sized for customers over 6'4" and have sleeve length measurements from center back of M 36"; L 381/2"; XL and 2XL 391/2".
Women's Tall Sizing:
Women's tall pants have a 34" inseam.
Women's Petite Sizing:
Petite garments are sized for customers up to 5'3".
Hats:
Measure around your head with measuring tape above your eyebrows and ears.
Gloves:
Measure around hand across the knuckles (exclude thumb). The number of inches determines glove size. If you are right-handed, measure your right hand and vice versa. People with extra long fingers, or who would like a looser fit should consider ordering a size up.
Shade Sleeves:
Sizing for this garment is based on your Solumbra shirt size.
