How, exactly, did we manage to design a sun protective shirt that appeals to women who crave a closer fit that is flattering and easy to wear untucked? Let’s just say, it took some doing. And we’re definitely pleased with the results. Our hip-length, button front Women’s Slim Tunic Shirt has two patch pockets, front and back princess seams, a shirttail hem with side vents, always-appreciated underarm mesh and hemmed cuffs (sleeves can be left long or rolled up and fastened with button tabs).

CARE Simple: Machine or hand wash in cold water. Hang dry or tumble dry on gentle, low heat

Well made blouse with SPF 100+
Love the material & venting this shirt has, along with the UV protection. I have skin cancer. Normal clothing doesn’t block UV with more than SPF 9. I must wear long sleeves in summer, & stay in as much shade as I can during peak hours. So, being diligent, I ordered 3 of these blouses in different colors. I received them quickly. I ordered XS hoping the fit wouldn’t be too tight. The fit actually was quite roomy & I was surprised at that. I have a small frame, 5’5” & 134 pounds. Am a 34-35 smaller DD bra size. I could’ve ordered the XXS and have a less roomy fit. Size chart for me wasn’t accurate for my body size and frame. Hope that helps you.

Great Green Color!
Perfect for a redhead of a certain age. However I ordered the Medium first and found it to be slightly large, I then ordered the Small and found it the slightest bit too snug - (gaping buttons). The color is a fresh spring green without looking fluorescent. The length covers my largesse. Fabric is soft and super lightweight with hidden ventilation. This will be a workhorse, replacing my old Solumbra blouse which I have used sailing and kayaking for 20 years. Keeping the medium but wish there was a smedium.

So nice I bought three...
Every spring I look for sunblock clothing. I have several hats from Solumbra that I use when I walk outside for exercise, and when I know I'm going to be out in the sun for more than five minutes. I got this shirt in M Island Green and I liked it so much that I ordered it in White and Black. It is easy to throw on over a muscle tank and not look like you are terrified of the sun. At first I was not sure I'd like the button sleeves or the slight flare when the sleeves are not buttoned up. However, I've realized this is the style for me. I can unroll the sleeves to protect my hands when I need to, and button them out of the way when I don't. I like the chest pockets. Sometimes I wear pants without pockets and one chest pocket held my car key and the other held my very small wallet while I went grocery shopping. I plan to live in these three shirts through the fall. I also love all my Solumbra hats. They are everywhere--in my car, at work and in my house. They look great.

My Favorite Shirt!
The sizing help guide is accurate. I am 5'3", 110 lbs, slender in bust and waist, but slightly heavy in hip and thigh so my best shirts and jackets are tunic length. I love this shirt because it is slimmer fitting than a "big shirt" and very flattering. It is great alone, over a tank, or under a long jacket. My only slight quibble is that it wrinkles, but it's worth it to me to steam it. None of my other sun protective shirts look as good or can pass as a good cotton shirt as opposed to a synthetic. I wish there were more colors!

Green is as shown
The green color is as pretty but lighter than it shows on my computer screen. The Fit in the body and arms was perfect for me. I am 5'5" and 150 lbs, normal build. Size 10. I ordered a "small" and had plenty of easy in the shirt...its syling is shapely, has darts. It has a nice chest pockets that lay flat which i like. The style of the hem is very odd looking on me. It has side slits that end right below my crotch line which is good i think, but then the curved line of the shirt tails extend to 4 inches below that in front and back. Since the shirt has a shapely cut, to my eye( and to my neighbor who is sunprecautions shopper) it just looks odd. I would have prefered the hem straight across. I considered reheming it myself but decded best to just return it and write a review. My friend didnt think the color was a good choice for my coloring, though i think it is a lovely color for someone!

Color? Beautiful! i ordered in the Island Green. size? i ordered according to the size chart...Med. It is HUGE and the end of the sleeves are wide, wide! Why cant Solumbra fix their sizing. This has been an ongoing problem for the last 15 years that i have ordered from them. The clothes are over sized in all respects!

Best summer shirt/throw-over ever
I've worn this shirt so often over the last many years that it knows all my secrets. Mine is xs white and so it goes with everything -- it's a great throw-over for Tshirts or tanks. Worn it so much I want another exactly like it, because I use it practically every day in summer.

very nice
This is my second shirt. I usually take an 8 in a tailored dress shirt. I got the safari shirt in XS previously and it is a very roomy fit on me. This slim tunic still has plenty of room in an XS but has a more fitted look. I am 5'5'' and the length goes from wrist to finger tip. It has quite a pronounced shirt tail hem (not flat). The sleeves are loose but not so much to be sloppy. I really like the overall tidy look but still enough room in the bust and shoulders to not gap between buttons and give good mobility and comfort. The mesh insert is soft and blends in nicely.

How to Measure

Most Solumbra clothing is oversized.
It is designed with generous proportions to give you freedom to move around. There's no need to order larger sizes. Exceptions are noted in product copy.
Inseam:
Measurement from inside crotch seam to bottom of hem.
Unisex Tall Sizing:
Unisex tall shirts are sized for customers over 6'4" and have sleeve length measurements from center back of M 36"; L 381/2"; XL and 2XL 391/2".
Women's Tall Sizing:
Women's tall pants have a 34" inseam.
Women's Petite Sizing:
Petite garments are sized for customers up to 5'3".
Hats:
Measure around your head with measuring tape above your eyebrows and ears.
Gloves:
Measure around hand across the knuckles (exclude thumb). The number of inches determines glove size. If you are right-handed, measure your right hand and vice versa. People with extra long fingers, or who would like a looser fit should consider ordering a size up.
Shade Sleeves:
Sizing for this garment is based on your Solumbra shirt size.
